| The Brodsky Center holds an annual workshop program that teaches papermaking to children with disabilities ranging from ages 4 to 16. The children use stencils, pigmented pulp, molds and deckles--all tools from the Brodsky Center's state-of-the-art papermaking studio. The papermaking workshop engages the participants socially and creatively. Paper pulp is a tactile medium; it challenges the children to overcome textural aversions as well as gives them a sense of pride from being involved in a highly creative and engaging activity. The Brodsky Center brings the wet pieces back to the studio and after they dry, returns them to the school so students get to take home their finished artwork. |
